STAGE DIRECTOR
Pamela Schermann is a London-based theatre and opera director. She trained as a director at the University of Vienna, and at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in London.
Most recently, she directed the opera productions A Florentine Tragedy, Zanetto, Faust/Alberta and Orpheus and Eurydice at Opera in the City Festival at Bridewell Theatre, as well as Simon Paisley Day's play Raving at Crescent Theatre main house in Birmingham for Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. She started her professional career at the Rose Playhouse, Bankside, where she directed acclaimed contemporary interpretations of The Taming of the Shrew and Othello alongside the in-house productions Iphigenia in Tauris, The Eve of St Agnes and Rendezvous at Midnight.
Other works include Rimsky-Korsakov's opera Mozart & Salieri (Arcola Theatre -Finalist Off West End-Award 'Best Opera Production' and UK/Denmark Tour), Lady Windermere's Fan (UK/Ireland Tour), Abe & Hans (Theatre503), Shoot, I didn't mean that / The Last Days of Mankind (Tristan Bates Theatre), and New Writing Events at Southwark Playhouse and the Arts Theatre West End.
International works include Othello at Theaterlab in New York City, La Traviata in Austria and various works for State Opera Stuttgart, Germany.
Her work has been supported by the Austrian Cultural Forum and Arts Council England.
